Cap popping for a WG K4915
Question from Andy: Hi Guys, I have a med res monitor with a K4915 chassis connected to my Super Sprint. The Cap at c702 keeps splitting its top after about a day of being on. I slowly goes bad. Monitor will slowly start to get whiter and whiter. After this point the monitor pretty much turns white with a few horizontal line going across. If I replace the cap. Currently I have a 22uf 160v cap in their. The specs have a 22uf 100v for that location but all info says that is perfectly fine. I have replaced the flyback on the chassis and that helped the look of the monitor. I was also able to turn down the v-hold. Was at full, but the cap still goes bad after about a day of being on. None of the other caps on the board looks bad. Wanted to know what else I should check to try and fix this issue. Have not done a full cap kit on this monitor yet. Though the monitor does look great when I replcae the c702.

Response from Tim: Andy I suspected the HOT, but to be sure I asked Michael and here is what he said:
Usually when a cap keeps failing, there is a excessive load on it… I would replace the Hot for good measure, since he already replaced the Fly-back. The main cause, will be probably another electrolytic nearby the cap that fails, and possibly a Poly cap in the area. He probably won’t be able to fix it without a ESR meter or some type of meter to read the caps, without just changing all of them. I have seen that a lot.
