Cracked monitor neck tube

Question from Joe: Hi, I just got my first arcade game this past week, a NBA Jam TE cabinet. I came across your website and videos and have to say WOW! You guys rock. I purchased this game knowing the monitor was bad and was told the game played until somehow during moving the game the tube neck was broken. Without knowing any better I powered up the game and can hear a whistling type sound coming from the monitor neck. There is no picture or light on the screen. Upon further inspection the neck glass is cracked where it connects to the neck board. I also found the convergence rings lying in the bottom of the cabinet. My question is: is it worth it to find a replacement tube and attempt a tube swap or to just break down and buy a complete monitor? If the swap is a good idea, where can I find a new tube, and how difficult will this swap be? The tube is a 25in G-A63ADG25X and the best I can tell the chassis is a Universal Chassis according to http://www.jomac.net.au/Universal%20Chassis.jpg

Thanks so much,
Joe in Houston, TX

Response from Tim: If the monitor looked good before the tube was broken then I would try and find a tube. You can also use a TV tube if you want but it is a little tricky. Since you are in Houston you can go to arcadecenter.com and post there and hopefully someone local will have a tube for you if not we got plenty, but are 3 hours away.
