Help Sega Hang On

Question from Bob: I just got a Sega Hang On which is missing the Power Supply the wiring diagram call for a 400-5035 5 volt 11 amp supply. I have a new happ supply that will deliver 15 amps, I have that covered. My problems is the game doesn’t have one in it so there is no way for me (amateur) to figure out how this get wired.

I have a orange and grey/white wire coming from the transformer I am assuming these are the AC connection I am not sure which is the line and which is the neutral?

Second I have a terminal plate on the right rear of the machine with five terminals. Two groups, toward the rear of the cabinet are two posts with white wires and toward the front of the cabinet are two posts with yellow wires.

Basically I have 6 wires to connect:

Orange Wire (from the transformer)

White/Gray (From transformer)

Yellow Wire (1) (to the Boards)

Yellow Wire (2) (to the Boards)

White (Wire 1) (to the Boards)

White (Wire 2) (to the boards)

Any help with how to hook these up wold be greatly appreciated.

The Sega manuals really aren’t very helpful.

Thanks
Bob

Response from Jonathan: Bob,

We used to have a Sega Hang On years ago but it’s been a while since we have worked on one. Based on the information you’ve given us, it does sound like the orange and grey/white wires are for AC. Try tracing these wires back to the power plug. The wire that goes to the slightly larger prong on the plus is the neutral side. While I’m not completely sure, I suspect that the pairs of yellow and white wires are for 5 VDC and 12 VDC. The schematic for the game (which should be in the manual) might help you determine which pair of wires is which voltage.

Please let us know if you’re still having trouble with this game. You might send us some pictures or upload a video to YouTube of the inside of your cabinet and your findings. This will help us further troubleshoot your issue. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
