Golden Tee 2005

Question from Mike: So I recently picked up an old Golden Tee 2005 machine that one of my buddies has had in his basement unused for a while. A couple weeks ago we had it up and running but when I got it moved all of a sudden it no longer wants to work. The lights come on, the monitor fires up, then nothing.  We noticed a smell and unplugged it to find that one of the black “hot” wires melted through its insulation. I’m worried the wire is shot but could this be the result of a bad power supply? Thanks, Mike

Response from Jonathan: Mike,

Yes, this does sound like it could be the result of a bad power supply. Of course, there are other factors that could also contribute to this issue (damaged wiring/connectors, bad board, etc.) but the power supply is a great place to start. You might try removing the board from the cabinet, turning the game back on and checking the power supply with a multimeter. You might also want to track down all of the AC wires in the cabinet to make sure they are getting the correct voltages as well. It could be that the wire that melted through it’s insulation is getting way more voltage than expected. Try tracking down it’s source and checking the voltages there. Feel free to write us back if you have any additional questions on this issue.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
