good 60 in 1
Question from Ty: Hello Tim and Jonathan, I had a quick question about 60-in-1 PCBs and which ones to purchase. I’ve read the comparisons between quality A and quality B boards and I’m confused on what I should be purchasing. I haven’t found any quality A boards available and some people talk about the quality B boards being “flakey” and or having issues with the sound quality. Could you shed some light on the topic and maybe let me know of some decent quality B board companies? I guess that wasn’t so quick. Anyway, thanks for all that you do for the hobby. It is much appreciated! Take care, Ty

Response from Jonathan: Ty,
In our experience, which 60-in-1 board version you buy does not matter as much as who you buy it from. A good seller should allow you to return the board if it does not perform the way you expect it to. I’ll put in a plug for our friends Nick at jammaparts.net and Michael at cajunarcade.com. We’ve had some problems with a few of the boards we’ve purchased from both of these sellers but both were very helpful and replaced the boards for free (except for the return shipping cost) in a very prompt manner.
In our experience, sound quality is always going to be an issue when you’re working with multigame boards as most of them work off of emulation that may or may not be implemented properly. We’ve played A LOT of 60-in-1 boards and they all play the same to me. All of them have pretty bad sound emulation on certain games (Gyruss comes to mind) but it really doesn’t bother most people.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your future repairs.
