Silent Scope issues

Question from Les: I have a Silent Scope 2 Dark Silhouette arcade game. When I power the machine on it goes through it’s self check and everything checks OK. Then it pops the message Hardware Error [-11P]. Just wondering if you could point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance. Les

Response from Jonathan: Les,

I’ve seen this issue before. I believe it’s a problem with the timekeeper nvram chip. While you can find a replacement chip pretty easily, you must also program it with the custom code that used to be on the old chip. This repair process will require some soldering skills and a programmer. Here are some links that should give you more information on the problem:

The second link should be particularly helpful to you as one of the guys pretty much lists the steps he takes to fix his issue. You might also be able to contact him to see if he can burn you a new timekeeper chip if you feel pretty confident in your soldering skills. Now, I’ve heard that Betson does repairs on these boards. You might try contacting them and see what they would charge for the repair if you don’t feel comfortable attempting this yourself.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
