1943 arcade machine issue
Question from Zane: Hello, I have an issue with a 1943 machine. I have changed the board 3 times and I still get no image, no sound… just dead boards. However when checking to see if the jamma harness is good, I put in a kaneko board which then works. I understand that that could mean the board is bad. But is there a possibility that I am doing something wrong and why just the 1943 boards are not working? I am about to try a different game for the cabinet… I even checked the 1943 board with the ohms reader and It seems ok. The contacts are good, and even the previous owner has stated that the board is guaranteed to work. I changed the cabinet from a non-jamma 1942 to a jamma 1943 – as the 1942 was not original. Please help! Thanks. Zane

Response from Jonathan: Zane,
The only thing I can think of is perhaps your JAMMA harness is not wired the way that the 1943 board expects it to be wired. While JAMMA is a standard, many games use variations on it. For instance, some games do not require that pins 27 & 28 (e & f respectively) are hooked to the ground on the power supply while some do. The same thing goes for the -5 VDC line as well. I would make sure that your voltage pins (+5 VDC, +12 VDC and -5 VDC) are wired up correctly to both sides (parts and solder) of the JAMMA edge connection. I would also double check all of your ground connections (pins 1, 2, 27 & 28; A, B, e & f) and make sure they are all connected to your power supply ground. Here’s a link to our standard JAMMA pinouts page that should match your 1943 board pinouts: http://www.arcaderepairtips.com/jamma.html.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
