Loud Buzz, powering on, no game or picture
Question from Matt: Hello! I had a quick question that I believe you can help me solve. I have a 1984 4 player Atari Gauntlet arcade machine. While playing the game with no issues, the game “shorted out,” froze and resorted to an extremely loud buzzing noise. Every time I try to turn it on now, it just has a loud buzz, no picture, but power is going to the cabinet as the coin slot lights still function. Could this be the result of a blown fuse? I plan on checking the fuses with a multimeter, but was wondering if you could help. I can provide more information, just wasn’t sure what information you required. Thank you for your help! Matt

Response from Jonathan: Matt,
Yes, this could be caused by a blown fuse. We recommend checking those fuses with a multimeter to make sure they are good. Check out our post on Checking Fuses With A Multimeter for more information. Also, make sure you check the power supply on the cabinet. Just because you are getting coin slot lights does not mean that you are getting the CORRECT voltage only that you are getting some voltage. Check out our post on Checking And Replacing A Power Supply for more information. Try checking the fuses and power supply and let us know if you need any additional help.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
