Ninja assault
Question from Mike: Hi. I recently bought a Ninja Assault arcade game. When I brought the game home, I had to recalibrate the guns. They worked fine for about a week and then had to recalibrate them once again. After that, I would have to calibrate them every few days. Now it’s gotten to the point that every time I shut the game off, I have to recalibrate them once I turn the game back on. I can’t seem to find any similar problems like this anywhere else. Do you have any idea what might be going on, or any ideas how to fix this issue? It would be nice to turn the game on without having to recalibrate the guns every time. Thanks so much for your help.

You’re in luck. We just recently release a new post on Troubleshooting Light Gun Issues that might cover some of the issues you are having with your Ninja Assault. Check it out and see if any of those suggestions help you out with your problem.
Also, I believe Ninja Assault uses the Sega Naomi system which has a battery on the main board. If this battery is starting to die it might not save your settings every time which is why you have to recalibrate the guns sporadically. You might try replacing this battery, recalibrating the guns and see how long the settings hold at this point. Here’s a picture of a Naomi board with the cartridge removed: http://home.comcast.net/~dark.paladin/naomi/images/first.jpg. You will see the battery if you look at the right side of the inner circuit board. I believe it’s a CR2032 which is the same battery used in PC motherboards.
