Donkey Kong Jr cabinet question
Question from Tom: Hello. I am new to home arcade ownership and recently purchased a Donkey Kong Jr. cabinet. I have a pin to edge adapter from Vector Labs and I am trying to hook it up to the wiring from the cab in order to change out different game boards without having to attach each wire to each board individually. When I do this and turn on the machine, the screen is purple for some reason. I tried flipping the video cable another way to see if I attached it upside down, but that just makes the screen blank. The volume worked fine, but not the video. I checked the wire attachments on the adapter and in the cabinet and all were secure. Any idea of what I am doing wrong? There are no issues with the wires or DK Jr. board when hooked up directly. The issue on happens when hooking up the adapter, so I’m lost. Thanks for your time and any help you can give. Tom

Response from Jonathan: Tom,
Unfortunately we are not very familiar with this adapter. The installation looks pretty straight forward just from what I’ve looked at on the Vector Labs website. It would seem like this is a problem with the adapter since the video from the board works fine when directly hooked up. Of course, it could be that the adapter is expecting a different pinout than the one currently used by your Donkey Kong Jr. video connector or vice versa. Probably a good idea to check the continuity of the pins from the adapter to make sure that all of them are properly connected to the correct locations. Have you tried contacting the guys at Vector Labs to see if they have any ideas? You might even try to get them to send you another board just to eliminate that as an issue.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
