Virtua Fighter not displaying fighters
Question from Chad: Hello Tim, the stage and fighters disappear as my Virtua Fighter game starts up. My power supply is supplying 126v and 5.1 dcv and 11.3dcv. I took my motherboards apart (3 tier) and reconnected every wire connector. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, I ran the tests on the menu. Under TPG test IC 58, IC 60, and IC 66 are bad. Is that saying my main motherboard is bad? Thanks, Chad

Response from Jonathan: Chad,
According to the TPG test, it does seem like there are some parts on your CPU (or main) board that are malfunctioning. Of course, this could be due to the fact that the 12 VDC line off your power supply is only registering 11.3 VDC. You might try replacing the power supply to ensure that you get a good +5 VDC and +12 VDC to the board. Also, make sure that all of the boards are making a good connection with each other. Check the connector pins inside the board connectors to make sure that they are not bent or have other issues that would cause them not to connect properly. You might want to check out our post on Inspecting An Arcade Board at this point for some helpful tips on identifying problem areas with boards.
If your board does indeed need those IC chips replaced, it’s probably better to let a professional handle it. You might try Ken at irepairsega.com and see if he can get the board going for you again. You can also try contacting some of the other people we have listed on our Resources page under the Board (PCB) Repair & Component Sales section to see if they can help you out.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions or updates on your progress in the future.
