Game Elf 412 Trackball Performance
Question from Jeff: Hello sir, I have a Game Elf 412-1 system with relatively poor trackball performance. On games like Centipede and Millipede… the trackball moves the player, but it does not work smoothly like the original arcade game would have. During game play it moves somewhat erratically (it “jitters” when I move it around). I’m wondering if this is inherent in the game board or maybe an issue with the trackball itself? I heard that the board may be the issue. Have you heard of this before? Thank you, Jeff

Response from Jonathan: Jeff,
We have installed a trackball to use with the Game Elf board in the past and it seemed to work pretty smoothly. There was just a bit of lag every so often but I don’t think we ever experienced the jittering that you’re describing. We would recommend double checking the wiring and power supply just to make sure that everything is hooked up correctly and the voltage is correct. Of course, if that all checks out then you probably have a problem with the board. You might try contacting the retailer you bought the board from to see if they have had this issue and if they will let you return it for another one. Of course, if the new board does the same thing then you might think about going with a multigame board that has a more powerful processor to see if it makes a difference.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
