monitor problems

Question from Milton: I have a light gun arcade game and I am having monitor problems. The colors are a little off: red, yellow and orange are all different red shades, green is very dark, white has a pink hue and so on. This is not good for a light gun game. The top of the screen is stretched out and the bottom is smushed. I was wondering if you had any suggestions? Thanks, Milton

Response from Jonathan: Milton,

The color and stretching problems you are having with your picture could definitely be related to some bad capacitors on your monitor chassis. We recommend installing a cap kit to see if it makes a difference in your monitor. Check out our post on Installing A Cap Kit for more information.

Your color issues could also be related to some problems with the color drive transistors on your monitor chassis and/or neck board. Check out our post on Checking A Monitor Tube for more information on color drive transistors.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
