PCB Repair Help
Question from J.B.: Hello, I have a PCB that I am trying to fix. I am getting “jail bars” running down my screen. I have it hooked up to an LCD with a CGA to VGA converter, so I assume it’s not the monitor. I have also hooked it up to my JAMMA cab, with a monitor, and I still get the “jail bars”. I have taken out the socket chips and cleaned them with no luck. Any ideas? Tips? Thanks, J.B.

Response from Jonathan: J.B.,
Video issues with boards such as this are usually attributed to RAM errors. You may need to test/replace the RAM chips on the board to get it working again. If the board has a test mode, you might try getting into it and doing a RAM test to see if it indicates any issues. Please let us know what board you are trying to repair and we will try to help you out further. Also, a picture of the issue would be very helpful as well. Hope that helps.
