Game King 2019-in-1
Question from Todd: Hello, I have a SF3 3rd strike cabinet (and board) and I’m trying to replace it with a Game King 2019-in-1 board. However, when I attempt to connect the board I notice there is a kick harness coming from the cabinet but no place to attach it to the Game King. The only area that looks like it possibly may be the spot is the side plug-in which is wider than the harness plug and slightly slimmer from top to bottom. I’m stuck as this seems to be my only hurdle in getting the Game King to plug in properly. Any help you could give is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Also, in removing the SF3 3rd strike board, I see the area where the kick harness attached has 34 pins whereas the similar looking spot on the Game King has 40 pins. Is this where the kick harness should attach on the Game King (somehow)?

Response from Jonathan: Todd,
Unfortunately getting the Game King 2019-in-1 working with your cabinet is going to require some rewiring. As you have noticed, Street Fighter III: Third Strike uses a kick harness while your Game King board does not. According to a manual I found online for the Game King, all 6 buttons for each player should be wired to the main JAMMA harness. The Street Fighter III: Third Strike manual states that only the first 3 buttons for each player (the punch buttons) are located on the JAMMA harness. The other 3 buttons (the kick buttons) are located on the kick harness.
In order to get all of the buttons working with the Game King board, you will need to move the kick button wires from the kick harness and add/wire them to the main JAMMA harness. The pinouts for the games can be found in their respective manuals (Game King on page 10, SF3 on page 22). All you need to do is find which button corresponds to which wire on the kick harness and then add it to the respective location on the main JAMMA harness. Please note that in order to fit all of the player button wires on the main JAMMA harness, the Game King pinouts use the second to last location on the main JAMMA harness as a button location instead of a ground wire location like most JAMMA boards. You will probably need to cut and wire the correct button wire into this location in order to add it to your main JAMMA harness and move any items using that ground wire to the ground wire on the last pin of the main JAMMA harness.
Now, if your JAMMA harness does not have pins and wires already in these additional spots in the harness you will need to add them yourself. All you have to do is crimp an edge connector pin (http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=177_184&products_id=1115) on to a wire and insert the pin into a blank spot in your harness connector. It should click into place once you insert it. Make sure you have enough wire to get to your destination otherwise you might have to extend it. Of course, if there is already a pin and wire in that location then you should be able to splice into it with no problems.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
