Repaired K7000 Still not working in original cab
Question from Michael: Hello, I have a K7000 I recently got repaired by a reputable repairman in the community. It was working 100% on his test rig, but when I installed it in the cab it came from, it didn’t do anything. I have everything connected correctly, it’s getting voltage from the isolation transformer, but still nothing, no neck glow or any signs of life, the weirder thing is I hooked it up to a 19 inch monitor that originally had a K4900 hooked up to it and it worked. It was originally hooked up to a 25 inch monitor, and the isolation transformer is putting out about 125VAC.
I’ve emailed the repairman and he wanted photo’s which I’ve sent to him, but he hasn’t contacted me back since. I’m really confused about this especially since it shows signs of life on a 19 inch monitor but not on its original 25 inch monitor. I installed a full cap kit and flyback, which did nothing for the original problem, along with the repairman installing a HV shutdown pot that was cracked, and a voltage regulator. The regulators number on it is STR 30130 1914 in case it helps any.
Any help is much appreciated and I hope we can get this thing fixed, considering it was working better before I had the repairs done. Attached is a picture of the original problem before I had repairs done, the white squigly line going down the monitor. Thank you, Michael

Response from Jonathan: Michael,
It’s hard to know exactly why it’s not working after the repairs especially since the repairman that you sent it to tested it before he shipped it back. Of course, you can always try tracing down the high voltage line to make sure that there’s not a cold/cracked solder joint or a part that may be damaged that causing the issue. If everything looks OK, we would probably wait on the repairman to reply to see what he says. Keep in mind that the chassis could have been damaged in the shipping process but it’s hard to know without actually inspecting or testing the chassis.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
