Duplicating the output screen

Question from Don: Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to duplicate the screen of a game to a TV? On a laptop computer, you can duplicate your display so you can have the exact same image on a TV as well. Is there such a way to add a wire and/or things to the arcade machine and then have a VGA wire (or other connector) coming out so that it goes into a TV. This way, if a friend and I were playing an arcade game, a 3rd friend could watch what we are playing on a separate TV. Is this possible? Please advise. Thanks, Don

Response from Jonathan: Don,

Yes, it is possible to accomplish this. If you are only going to hook up one additional monitor then it should be OK to split the monitor input wires off to a second monitor without losing too much signal. If you are going to hook up more than one additional monitor then you will probably need an amplifier of some sort. For the sake of simplicity and based on your email, we will assume that you only want to hook up one additional monitor to your arcade machine.

In order to hook up a TV or computer monitor as the second monitor, you will need some sort of converter board (such as this Gonbes GBS-8220) which converts the arcade monitor signal to a VGA output. So, if you split the monitor input wires coming from your arcade board and connect one set of them to the arcade monitor input and the other set to the converter board input you should be able to hook up a TV or computer monitor to the VGA output and get the same thing on both screens.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your future repairs.
