Tip of the cap

Question from Doug: Good morning, I was hoping you could answer an oddball question for me. I’m working on a WG4900 and came across a cap in my kit from “sycamore semi conductors” that may not have a place. The cap in question is C366 (22uf 35v). The location on the board actually has a resister in its place. Could there be two versions of the 4900? Any guidance is appreciated. Doug

Response from Jonathan: Doug,

Yes, there are several different versions of the Wells Gardner K4900 chassis and it’s common to have something other than an electrolytic cap in the C366 location. In fact, many sellers will omit this cap from their kits entirely due to this fact. Of course, Syracuse Semiconductors does a good job of including everything you may need in their cap kits just in case you did have this cap on your chassis. Since you do not have a cap in this location on your chassis, just leave it as it is and keep the cap for a future project. Hope that helps.
