8 Liners Chassis

Question from Jesse: Hi folks, I really enjoy your podcasts and was recently listening to an older #14 episode where you talk to Mark about an 8 Liners chassis you can buy to use with a TV tube. I have access to many older 19″ tube type TVs and would love to make some work with arcade machines. Is this company still in business and, if so, do you have a link or name I could Google to find out more info? I searched for “8 Liners” and got very limited info, mostly links to slot machines. Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks and keep up the great work. You guys do a super job! Jesse in Ohio

Response from Jonathan: Jesse,

Unfortunately, 8liners.com (the site that sold this chassis originally) has been out of business for a while now. If you’re interested in seeing the old information about the 8liners chassis, you can check out this link to the page on archive.org. Of course, this won’t help you get your current TV tubes working with your arcade games.

The good news is that there is a universal monitor chassis that several entities are selling on eBay. These run around $100 or so and tend to work well with pretty much any monitor tube. Of course, it’s probably a good idea to check with the seller just to make sure your tube will work with their chassis. Classic Game Rooms out of Georgia sells them on eBay for a reasonable price. Here’s a link to the 19″ version if you want to check it out: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Replacement-Arcade-Monitor-chassis-19-CRT-10-Pin-Neck-Board-/110934177453?hash=item19d43136ad:m:mlPe_zlljeY6O3R-SOOVs8Q

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and the kind words about our content. Good luck with your future repairs.
