Valley Cougar dart boards

Question from Ron: Hi guys. Do you guys work with Valley dart boards? I have a 1980’s something model SM dart board that keeps blowing the 2a slo-blo fuse every time I turn the game on. Wait, here’s a short story on what happened. I was playing a game and decided I had enough and shut the game down. I then decided within a 2 minute window to play another game. When I turned the game back on it made a humming sound and that was all she wrote. It hasn’t worked since then. I have watched some of your videos and I noticed my power cord didn’t have a ground plug on it so I replaced that but it stills keeps blowing the fuse. Have you guys ever ran into this problem before? Thank you, Ron

Response from Jonathan: Ron,

Unfortunately we are not very familiar with Valley dart boards. With that said, a blown fuse usually indicates that you’re getting some voltage feedback inside the game somewhere. It could be caused by exposed/frayed wiring, bad electronic components, etc. We recommend starting off this repair by tracing the wire/line that’s connected to the fuse to see if you can find any problem areas. If the fuse is in the bottom of your game and is connected to the main voltage line, there’s a good chance that it’s a wiring problem. In this case, make sure you check all of your wiring to make sure it is properly connected and not exposed. If the fuse is located on an circuit board, it’s probably going to be an electronic component failure issue. At this point, you could try to trace down the parts on the circuit board that are causing the problem or your could ship the board off for repair. Please let us know if you determine that it’s a board issue and we’ll help you find someone who cane repair it for you.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
