Bill acceptor credit pulse troubleshooting

Question from Brian: I have a MEI 2400 bill acceptor that accepts bills but is not sending credits to my Golden Tee Complete game. The credit wires going to the board register credits when I touch them. The dip switches on the unit appear to be correct and the connector pins also appear correct (position 7 & 8). Can you recommend a good way to troubleshoot this issue to determine if / where the credit pulse is interrupted? I’m thinking it is either the unit (not likely..), the harness pinouts to the unit or the pinouts on the molex connector to the game (only 4 wires: 2 power, 2 credit pulse no/common). I swapped this unit in to replace a USA upstacker model 15 that came with the game and never worked. Note: I don’t have local service available so I am learning to service the devices. Using this in a commercial environment. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Brian

Response from Jonathan: Brian,

This is a very strange issue. Usually wiring bill acceptors is pretty straight forward. As you mentioned, there are not a lot of wires involved in the process. With that said, we highly recommend checking the dip switches as the wrong setting can cause issues between the game and the bill acceptor. Other than that, you might try to contact Incredible Technologies to see if they can give you some advice on the issue. Their contact page has a technical support number you can call. Hopefully they will be able to give you some better advice on your issue. Of course, feel free to send us some additional information or pictures about your issue and we’ll try to help you out further.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
