Hello
Question from James: I’m in desperate need of your help. I own a Sega 1985 My Hero coin op game. I paid $60 for it but this is all the screen does. I have the schematic but can’t read it. Can you please help me? I am pretty crafty. Your help will be appreciated, James

Response from Jonathan: James,
It looks like you could be having multiple issues with your game. With that said, we have a saying here at Arcade Repair Tips: ASAP (Always Start At Power). We recommend starting off this repair by making sure that your power supply is working properly. More specifically, use a multimeter to make sure that the correct voltage is getting to the board. Check out our post on Checking And Replacing A Power Supply for more information.
Our goal with this is to try to get the game to a state where the board is playing even if we don’t get a picture on the monitor. If the board is getting the correct voltage but the game doesn’t start playing, we could have a problem with our board. If the board starts playing (i.e. we can hear sounds) but we don’t have any picture on the screen, then the game is in a state we call playing blind which usually indicates a monitor issue. Of course, it’s really hard to diagnose a monitor issue when we are not even sure that the board itself is running which is why it is important to check the voltage to make sure it is correct. So, please ensure that the correct voltages are getting to your board and let us know what you find after that point.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
