Hantarex mtc9110 monitor

Question from Steve: Hi, I have an Operation Wolf 3 arcade game that the monitor was not working, so disconnected the chassis and sent it off to a monitor repair expert on an arcade website. He got it working but with a funny fault that totally baffled him. It appears that when you adjust the horizontal width to fit the screen a white area appears in the middle of the screen that is brighter than the surrounding area. Once the horizontal width is narrowed a bit, the white area disappears. He has fixed tons of monitors and this is the first one like this he has seen. Any ideas your advice or help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Response from Jonathan: Steve,

Yeah, I can’t say that we’ve seen a problem like this before either. If it was doing this when the monitor repair technician was testing it then it’s gotta be something on the chassis. If not. then it could be caused by issues with your monitor tube which would seem more common for an issue like this just based on your description. I guess it could be a problem with the width coil but that’s just a stab in the dark at this point. Unfortunately, we’re not going to be much help here. If it bothers you, it might be worth replacing the monitor entirely with a new one. You could also order one of those universal monitor chassis replacements (such as this one) just to see if the same issue occurs with it as well. Hope that helps.
