Cabinet Disassembly Questions
Question from Andrew: Hello! I just recently found your site and tutorials on youtube so forgive me if this has already been asked, but I’m wondering if you can answer a few questions I have about the assembly of most arcade cabinets.
I bought a large cabinet at an auction that is too large to fit in my house. Judging from the underside of the control panel, it was once a 4 player cabinet. It has a sticker on the back with “Model: Soccer” and a serial number, with Street Fighter III in it so it’s probably from the mid-90s. What I am wondering is: Are cabinets constructed by screwing into the sides of the cabinets from the outside, (and later filling the holes or laminating the sides), or are they screwed together from the supports on the inside? I ask because I’m hoping I can fully disassemble this cabinet so I can reassemble it later. If it is assembled from the inside-out, I should be able to avoid major resurfacing work to the side panels’ exterior. I would really appreciate your experience on this and your tutorials are great. Thank you for the time invested on them.

Response from Tim: Unfortunately most cabinets are stapled with brads and glued together. You can disassemble one though and use any method you want to get it back together. Can you just take off the control panel and get it in the doors after that? Tim
