CPS2 X-Men Monitor Problem
Question from Nick: Hello,
I am having an issue with CPS2 Cab I just moved awhile back. The monitor now has a strange set of scrolling(vertically) black blobs/squares moving up the screen when the game is on. The issue is at the far left hand side of the game. Besides that, everything else works great.
It is possible a connection on the board may have gotten jostled, or something else?
Here is a picture, I indicated the problem areas with the arrows:

The problem you are having is definitely related to a capacitor (or cap) on your monitor chassis. Depending on the type of monitor you have you might be able to narrow it down to a specific cap but it’s probably best to go ahead and do an entire cap kit on the monitor. Please see our post on Installing A Cap Kit for more information. In this post, there is also a link to the What’s My Monitor page on Bob Roberts website that will help you identify which monitor you have so you can order the correct cap kit for it.
Obviously installing a cap kit does require some soldering skill so if you’re not familiar with this you might order our Volume One DVD as it has a soldering tutorial video that you might find helpful. You might also check out our post on Removing And Installing A Monitor Chassis as you will need to take the chassis out of the game to work on it.
