Crusin USA

Question from Brian: Hello,

Not sure if you can help or guide me some… Have a Crusin USA game that had all the caps replaced and the flyback as well.

The initial problem was that once in awhile the game would play blind, but if I left it for a bit it could be turned back on and it would play for awhile. The board did have blow cap and they were replaced. Also you could hear a clicking coming from a transformer on the WG K7500. From what I understand this is due to a high voltage? But when I check the TP 202 I do not see the 130v that as I understand it should be there. I have heard people talk about the HOT. But not sure how to test this or even if this could be the issue. I do know the hot is at Q704 on the board… I only tested to see if current passes by the mulitmeter black on the center pin and red on the left then the right. Current passes. But not sure really if this is a good test. Sorry again… Very new to all this.

My daughter loves this game (4 years old, next generation 🙂 And I would love to get this working for her again. Any guidance would be appreciated. I would love to try and do this myself but if you can do that I would be interested in buying whatever I may need from you. Or if all else would not work would you be willing to check it out?

Here are some of the numbers I was seeing.

TP 202 – 0V
TP 103 – 40V
TP 200 – .6V
TP 204 – .1V
TP 104 – 34V

Thanks in advance.

Brian

Response from Jonathan: Brian,

Yes, it does sound like your monitor chassis is having a high voltage issue. I don’t know if you’ve checked out the service manual for the Wells Gardner K7500 but according to it the test points should be:

TP 202: 117.20 V
TP 103: -3.20 V
TP 200: 4.80 V
TP 204: 14.70 V
TP 104: 17.10 V

Obviously your numbers are pretty far off from what Wells Gardner says they should be. Along with the manual, Wells Gardner has an excellent repair guide that tells you the symptom and what to replace. Check what the guide says under the NO POWER-DEAD and SHUTS DOWN symptoms. Check out those parts and let us know if you continue to have issues. Also, keep in mind that Wells Gardner is still in business and can help you out as well.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
