Question from Bill: Not sure if you have a video on this or not but I hope you do. I am having a hard time finding any information on how to best wire/connect up 3 devices (Light, LCD monitor and PCB power supply).
What I am trying to achieve is powering the three devices but having an on/off switch on the outside of the cabinet. Was thinking of using an inlet connector, something like this –
Amico 3 Pin IEC320 C14 Inlet Module Plug Fuse Switch Male Power Socket 10A 250V
My problem with above is that I’m not sure how to connect the wires from all 3 devices to the connectors on this inlet switch. Is there another way to do this? Can the light and monitor utilize and be connected to the PCB power supply somehow and then I’d only have one power cord coming out of the cabinet that way.
Also thought of just using a power strip for all three components but then the on/off switch is INSIDE the cabinet, no good.
Just having a hard time finding a good solution and information on wiring. Any thoughts/suggestions/videos?

Response from Jonathan: Bill,
Unfortunately we do not have a video on this issue. Our upcoming Volume 4 DVD has a short clip that shows how we like to wire up cabinets like this but it won’t be released for a while.
Your best bet is to run the power wires from this switch to an outlet box inside your cabinet. We usually build something like this: http://home-building.wonderhowto.com/how-to/hate-ugly-looking-power-strips-make-sleek-diy-power-outlet-box-for-your-desktop-0141840/. Of course, our build is a bit different than this one. We tend to use a box that holds 2 wall outlets giving us a total of 4 sockets to plug in to. You can get these kind of outlet/utility boxes from your local hardware store. They are mostly used for wiring outlets in homes.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
