monitor question for podcast
Question from Anthony: Hello again,
In regards to the monitor chassis sold by 8liners.com: The 8liners website has instructions on how to put one of their chassis on a working television tube. Assuming everything matches properly, how does this affect the picture players see on the arcade game (vs replacing with a completely new monitor)?
Thanks,
Anthony

Response from Jonathan: Anthony,
Nothing really beats a brand new monitor, however, a television tube with the 8liners.com chassis might get you pretty close. Of course, it really depends on what condition the television tube is in as to how close. The great thing about television tubes in that they are plentiful (especially with LCD and Plasma TVs taking over) and they usually have little to no burn on them.
For the price of a new monitor versus a television tube with the 8liners chassis, I would have to go with the 8liners chassis route. A new 25″ arcade monitor is gonna cost you about $300 from Arcade Shop while the 8liners chassis with an old tube television would probably cost you about $150. Plus the picture off of a television tube with the 8liners chassis should be very similar to a regular arcade monitor if not the same.
