NFL Blitz 99
Question from Jared: I just purchased a NFL Blitz 99 arcade and it continues to reboot once it starts to warm up. Also, having a couple issues with certain buttons not functioning properly. The sound turns on, speakers work, but, there isn’t Any in-game audio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. New to the arcade ownership. I read that you repair these.

First thing we recommend checking anytime we have resetting/rebooting problems like this is the power supply. Boards that support 4 players (such as NFL Blitz 99) tend to be a bit more power hungry than boards that just support 2 players or less. We recommend trying to turn up the voltage on your power supply just a bit (to about +5.1 VDC on the +5 VDC line) to see if it helps your issue. Check out our post on Checking And Replacing A PowerSupply for more information.
> Also, having a couple issues with certain buttons not functioning properly.
Buttons not functioning properly is usually caused by wiring issue. Make sure you double check your wiring to ensure that all of the buttons and joysticks on your control panel are connected to the main harness properly. Check out our video on Wiring An Arcade Cabinet Using The JAMMA Standard for more information on the JAMMA wiring standard that NFL Blitz 99 uses.

This could be a setting on your board. You might try getting into the test/service mode of the game to see if there is an option to turn the volume up or enable in-game audio. I wasn’t able to find a NFL Blitz 99 manual online specifically but I did find one for the original NFL Blitz that will help you if you are having problems getting into the test/service mode of your cabinet.
Now, it’s possible that you might need a new hard drive if the reboots and sound issues continue after trying all of the steps above. Arcade-Service sells a flash kit that replaces your hard drive with a compact flash card which will help with speed and reliability. Of course, we only recommend doing this upgrade if your issues continue. Otherwise, stick with the original hard drive as long as you can.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your questions and good luck with your repair.
