Star Wars vector monitor flickering

Question from Joshua: I have an old Star Wars arcade game (1983) and I just had a new vector monitor installed in it. The monitor worked, I transported it home. Once home, I reinstalled the coin machine and attached the volume and settings buttons. Now the monitor flickers while on game mode but is fine in setup mode. Could this be due to bad/dirty connections? Frustrated here.

Response from Jonathan: Joshua,

I can definitely understand your frustration. From your description, it does sound like you are probably having some connection issues. Check all of the wiring and connections in your cabinet and see if you can find any places where problems may exist. Also, was the vector monitor new or recently repaired? In either case, it might not be a bad idea to take the chassis out and check it for cold, cracked, and/or broken solder joints. Sometimes these don’t affect the game until it is jostled during the transport process.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
