Street Fighter 2 Monitor

Question from Aaron: Hi Tim, I have a Street Fighter 2 monitor that has a broken Horizontal Width coil adjustment, and it could use new caps. I’m going to swap it out with a different monitor and am interested in sending the chassis to you guys to repair it. This is a standard Wells Gardner chassis (I think). If you know where I can get a cap kit and a width coil, I can just buy those from you too. I’m a really big fan of your videos and I learned a TON from you guys. Thanks! Aaron

Response from Jonathan: Aaron,

First off, thanks for the kind words. We’re glad that our content has help you with your arcade repair projects.

As for your questions, unfortunately we are not currently taking any monitor repairs but we do have several people we recommend. Chad at arcadecup.com is a very reputable guy and has a pretty fast turn around time. You could also contact our friend Arthur at highscoresrepair.com. He has answered several questions on our Facebook page in the past and definitely knows what he’s doing. There is a list of additional monitor repair technicians on our resources page under the Monitor Repair Services & Information heading as well. Keep in mind that most monitor repairs are going to be around the $120-$150 range.

Now, you should be able to find a cap kit pretty easily but finding a replacement width coil is going to be tricky. For the cap kit, I would order from Bob Roberts at therealbobroberts.net. Just tell him you need a K4900 cap kit and he should send it right out after you send him payment (he only takes check/money order so keep that in mind). You can ask Bob if he has a replacement width coil as well but I think he ran out of stock some time ago. Your best bet for getting a replacement width coil is probably going to be locating a bad K4900 chassis that still has the width coil in tact. You might look on eBay or ask in some of the different arcade forums to see if anyone has a junk chassis for sale. Of course, you might be able to fix your horizontal width problems with a horizontal width kit as well. Just something to consider.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
