Street fighter II missing video
Question: Please help. I just bought this game and this is what I see. Is this a monitor or a PCB issue. Thanks for any help or direction.

Response from Jonathan: This is a very interesting issue. It’s really hard to tell just from your picture if it is a monitor or a PCB issue. We would probably start by adjusting the horizontal and vertical hold potentiometers (or pots) on the monitor. Check out our post on Adjusting An Arcade Monitor for more information. Sometimes issues like this are just from the picture not being “held” correctly by the monitor. Trying these adjustments should make some changes to your picture. Hopefully these changes will help but if they don’t then you could indeed have a board issue.
If adjusting the hold pots on the monitor doesn’t help then we recommend swapping a different board into your Street Fighter II cabinet to see if the same graphics glitches occur. Since Street Fighter II is a JAMMA game, pretty much any JAMMA board should work. Check out our post on Swapping Boards In A JAMMA Cabinet for more information. Just a little note, you might not be able to actually play the game depending on the button configuration of the other board but it should at least give you a picture on the screen. If you get the same type of bars in your picture using a different board then you probably have a monitor issue. Otherwise it’s probably a problem with your Street Fighter II board.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
