Recently purchased my first arcade cab!

Question from Jordon: Okay. So I recently bought a Tekken 3 original arcade cab and everything works besides 1 button! Ha ha! It is the low kick button for player two. I was wondering exactly how hard it is to repair a button on a cabinet? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Besides the button not working it is beautiful! Ha ha ha. Thanks a lot! Jordon

Response from Jonathan: Jordon,

First off, congratulations on purchasing your first arcade cabinet! Hopefully it will bring you many hours of enjoyment. Be sure to check out all of the blog posts, videos and podcasts on our website for some great information on arcades and how they work.

As for your question, buttons are usually a pretty easy fix. A lot of times it’s caused by either a wiring issue or an actual button issue. Of course, you will need to open up your control panel to gain access to the button itself. Check out our post on Opening An Arcade Cabinet for more information on this process. Once you’ve gained access to the inside of the control panel, you should be able to check the wires to make sure they are connected to the button properly. If the wires are connected properly but the button still doesn’t work then you may need to replace the microswitch and/or button. These parts can be obtained from many of the entities listed under the Arcade Parts Suppliers & Distributors heading on our resources page. Make sure you also check out our post on Wiring A Push Button for more information on how to wire buttons correctly. These posts and resources should give you the knowledge you need to fix the issue but feel free to contact us again if you have any additional questions.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
