Wavy lines on an arcade
Question from Jeronimo: Hello there, I’m from Argentina and I’ve been watching your videos for a while. I would love if you could point out what the problem could be on my arcade. It doesn’t stop waving as it’s shown in this video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0RPtKZZgBpIb2FUVkZfTzFLc0U/view?usp=sharing. Avoid the flashing screen issue that’s cause of the Hz rate. I’m open to hear any ideas. Thanks in advance. Jeronimo

Response from Jonathan: Jeronimo,
We do see the waving / pulsing effect in your video along with the raster lines.
On the pulsing, it could be caused by some issues in the power supply section of your monitor. We recommend starting off this repair by Installing A Cap Kit on the monitor to see if it helps the issue. We would also recommend touching up any cold or cracked solder joints while you have the chassis out of the cabinet as well. If the pulsing does not go away after the cap kit and solder touch up, it might be time to start checking other parts in the power supply section of the monitor.
On the raster lines, they should come out when you properly adjust the brightness and contrast settings on the monitor. Adjusting these settings may help your pulsing problem as well. Check out our post on Adjusting An Arcade Monitor for more information.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your questions and good luck with your repair.
