CRT arcade monitor issues
Question from Samuel: I have a CRT from a Time Crisis 2 cabinet that will not focus and appears to have three copies of the image displayed. Any idea what my be the issue? The CRT is located in Louisiana. So if this is a major repair, with you being located so close, we may be able to bring it to ya’ll.

Response from Jonathan: Samuel,
It almost sounds like your monitor is set to the wrong mode. Perhaps it is expecting a VGA signal instead of the CGA signal that’s coming from the board. You might check to see what kind of monitor you have and see if it has the ability to take multiple resolutions/syncs. The focus issue could also be related or could just need to be adjusted. Check out our post on Adjusting An Arcade Monitor for more information on how to adjust the focus. In fact, it might be worth trying some other adjustments as well (such as the horizontal and vertical hold) before suspecting other issues with the monitor.
Unfortunately we are not taking any repairs at this time due to schedule constraints but we do have friends in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area who do these kind of repairs if you don’t mind moving it. Please let us know and we will refer you to someone in that area.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
