25″ Monitor Dim picture
Question from Steve: Hello, I bought a Neo Geo MVS 1-Slot that was playing blind. Got it home and looked over everything and the monitor powers up but no picture. If I adjust the screen, focus, and brightness all the way up I can barely see an image on the monitor. It has a 25″ monitor with a K7000 chassis. I ordered a cap kit and flyback for it. After installing the cap kit and flyback I get the exact same result on the monitor as before. I fear that the tube is going bad and doesn’t have any life left in it. Is there anything I might be missing or should look at before ruling that this is bad tube. Thank you and I enjoy the podcast. Steve from Owasso, OK

Response from Jonathan: Steve,
Unfortunately it does sound like it’s time to start suspecting the tube. Probably time to either replace the tube or use a tube rejuvenator to see if you can get a bit more life out of it. You can go to the Junknet Donor TV page (http://junknet.net/donor-tvs) to find an acceptable replacement tube using the information they provide. Now, there have been times where we’ve had a dim tube and it ended up being really dirty so make sure that the front of your monitor is clean. Just want to make sure we’re covering all the bases here. Other than that, it’s probably a tube issue.
Just a quick note, you can swap this chassis with another game that uses a K7000 monitor if you want to make sure that the tube is the issue. This would be a really good double check that would allow you to rule out any issues with the monitor chassis itself.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
