Applying laminate
Question from Rick: Hi, I am following the advice you give on the laminating a cabinet video on YouTube. One question I have is, when applying the adhesive to the MDF board, does the MDF need to be pre-treated with any type of filler before the adhesive? I read that MDF is very porous but it looks like your boards were bare MDF. Any guidance is appreciated! Thanks, Rick

Response from Jonathan: Rick,
I talked to Tim and he said it’s not necessary to pre-treat the MDF with any type of filler before applying the adhesive. He does recommend priming it with Kiltz (latex based) if you’re worried about the porous nature of the MDF but says that even without the primer it should be fine. Hope that helps.
