Question from Jeff: Dear ArcadeRepirTips,

I have Street Fighter II arcade cabinet with a horizontal monitor. The monitor is a 25″ Zenith brand. On occasion, the whole monitor screen will jitter up and down for a few seconds and then go away. This will happen at random intervals and at random durations usually lasting no more than a few seconds. When the whole screen is “jittering” the entire screen image is moving up and down couple of pixels like a rapid bounce. Sometimes the jitter height is significant and other times less. I read on a forum that this could be a result of some “scratchy” V-hold pots but I honestly don’t think this is a hold problem since this jitter problem doesn’t look like any form of scrolling I seen before. I’ve played with the V-hold pots and this problem always returns, usually after the cabinet has warmed up. I’m not sure if this relates to a poor ventilation or heat soak issue as sometimes it doesn’t happen alt all. It is very random and annoying.

Does this sound like a cap issue? And if so, which area of caps should I look into replacing? Thanks for any tips.
