Arcade Question – Boyfriend’s Street Fighter Alpha 2

Question from Tiffany: Hi there I came across your Info and thought it’d be worth a shot to reach out. I wanted to surprise my boyfriend by getting his arcade fixed but don’t know if this is a major and costly repair. When it’s turned on it looks like this and it looks like this part is cracked. Hoping for any info I can get. Thanks so much!!!

Response from Jonathan: Tiffany,

Wow, that’s a pretty big crack on that remote adjustment board. The good news is that it can probably be repaired. With that said, the repair process would probably be quite involved (basically rebuilding all of the traces that were broken by the crack). The easiest way to solve this problem would be to locate another remote adjustment board to replace it with. In order to do this, you will need to know what kind of monitor chassis (the big board that’s attached to the monitor tube) is in your boyfriend’s cabinet. You can try comparing his chassis with the ones on the What’s My Monitor page by Bob Roberts to see if you can find a match. If I had to guess, I would say it’s a Wells Gardner K7000 series monitor chassis but that is just a guess. Once you find a match, you can do some web searches with the chassis brand/model to see if you can find a replacement remote adjustment board.

Now, you could also try contacting one of the monitor repair technicians listed on our resources page under the Monitor Repair Services & Information heading to see if they can help you out. I’ll mention two such technicians real quick. Chad at arcadecup.com is a very reputable guy and has a pretty fast turn around time if you decided to send it to him. You could also contact our friend Arthur at highscoresrepair.com. He has answered several questions on our Facebook page in the past and definitely knows what he’s doing.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your questions and please keep us updated on your progress.
