arcade repair
Question from Glen: Hello. I really enjoyed your video series. Will you make a volume 5? When replacing a switchable power supply does it matter which wattage to get? Also I need to replace a h.o.t. on a chassis. Where would I get a D898B old style hot. A local repair guy said it’s a T03 style and has a fragile mica washer insulator. I didn’t see them on Bob Roberts website and it was different now. Thanks for any advise, Glen

Response from Jonathan: Glen,
Let’s take your questions one at a time…
> Will you make a volume 5?
We’re planning on it. It might not be released till next year though. We usually wait till we have 12 videos released to create our next DVD volume. Just a quick note about Volume 5, all of the videos on this volume will have an extended cut with extra footage. We did this a bit on our Volume 4 DVD but we’re going to take it to the next level with our next release.
> When replacing a switchable power supply does it matter which wattage to get?
Depends on the power demands of the game board in your cabinet. For low power boards, like the 60-in-1 multiboard, you can get a pretty low wattage power supply. For power hungry board, like the Sega Naomi System, you might look at getting a higher wattage / higher amp power supply.

Unfortunately Bob Roberts is not shipping out parts at the moment due to health issues so even if he had it in stock you wouldn’t be able to order it from here. Whenever we have trouble finding an electronic part, we like to use the NTE Electronics Cross Reference. All you have to do is enter the part number on your current part and it will give you the NTE equivalent part. I entered your part number and it says that the NTE equivalent part is the NTE89. Here’s the data sheet on this part so you can see if it’s what you’re looking for: http://www.nteinc.com/specs/10to99/pdf/nte89.pdf. You can also contact NTE if you have any questions about this part
