Arcade repair tips – Monitor issue

Question from John: Hello, my name is John from Slovakia. We tried to put some LCD/LED full HD monitors in our machine (the game is an Off Road Challenge I think). We bought the converter board and it works on 1 out of 3 monitors (1 is LCD, 2 are LEDs). The 2 monitors with more inches have a problem that after some time (minutes) the image changes colour to purple. The one with less inches work perfectly well, no issue at all. When we tried to plug those into the other ending of the converter board neither one of them worked so one of 2 endings is useless. Can the issue be that the converter board is somehow defective or is it just a settings problem? Thanks for help and have a nice day.

Response from Jonathan: John,

Unfortunately it’s hard to tell if it’s a settings problem or if the board is defective from your description. Try going through the settings in the manual for the converter board and make sure that everything is setup correctly. If your converter board didn’t come with a manual, you should be able to find one online for it.

If the settings are correct but the monitor still doesn’t work properly, then it could indeed be an issue with the converter board itself. We’ve found that while Gonbes is the name brand for these converter boards, several companies have manufactured knock-offs that are not as good. It could be that you’ve got a knock-off converter board instead of an original Gonbes converter board. In this case, you can try contacting the retailer you bought the converter board from to see if they will replace it. With that said, it might be better just getting your money back and purchasing a Gonbes converter board from another retailer.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
