Arcade speakers
Question from Matty: Hi guys,
First of all thanks for all the videos I’ve learnt so much about arcade machines from you guys. If you are ever in Sydney Australia let me know and I’ll shout you some beers.
I looked through your videos but couldn’t find anything about connecting up speakers. Sorry if you have mentioned this already and I missed it.
The old speakers in my cocktail cabinet have two wires coming off each speaker. A white wire and a black wire. The JAMMA harness I have only has two speaker wires. Is it OK to just hook up the white JAMMA speaker wire to the white wire on the speaker? Or does that other black wire on the speaker need to be connected to something also?

It sounds like someone might have either had an arcade board with stereo output in your cabinet or spliced the audio wires coming from the harness so they could hook up both speakers. You should be able to tie the 2 audio wires coming from your JAMMA harness to both sets of wires coming off of each speaker and it should work. I believe we show a short clip of how we did this near the end of our video on Wiring An Arcade Cabinet Using The JAMMA Standard. You might check that out and see if it helps.
