Captain America and the avengers arcade machine question
Question from Ed: Hello, I have a question concerning my arcade machine. I can’t find the test mode button in the Captain America and the Avengers machine. I’m having a hard time adjusting the color of the monitor because none of the colors pop out. Screen looks a lot more blue and the colors aren’t vibrant. What can I do to fix this? Thanks, Edwin

Response from Jonathan: Ed,
Let’s address the issue of the test mode button first. If your arcade cabinet is missing one, you should be able to wire one up yourself. All you need to do is run a wire from the test mode pin position on the harness along with a wire from one of the ground pin positions to a button and you should be all set. Since Captain America and the Avengers is a JAMMA game, this JAMMA wiring pinout should give you the position information for these pins. In the standard JAMMA wiring scheme, the test mode pin is located at position 15 on the parts side.
Now, the color issues are going to be more related to the monitor. We highly recommend starting off this repair by trying to adjust the settings on the monitor to see if you can improve the colors. Check out our post on Adjusting An Arcade Monitor for more information. If you cannot get the monitor picture to improve after adjusting the monitor then you may need to do some work on the monitor chassis itself such as Installing A Cap Kit or replacing the color drive transistors which we talk about in our post on Checking A Monitor Tube. Try some of these techniques and hopefully they will allow you to get your picture where you want it to be.
