Chase HQ not working =^(

Question from Stephen: Dear Tim and Jonathan,

I want to thank you in advance, your website and youtube videos have been such a help so far. Although I still haven’t been able to correct the current issue I’m having with my standup arcade version of Chase HQ. The unit was working perfectly until recently when it needed to be relocated from my brother’s apartment to my home. During the move the cabinet took a couple bumps and bangs, which resulted in one connection shaking loose from the main board. Once that was reconnected and the game was plugged in and turned on the screen only shows the following

(black screen with white letter type) that says . . . . I’ve attached a couple pictures

LOCAL RAM OK !
COMMON RAM OK !
SCREEN RAM OK!
SCROLL RAM OK !

This is displayed from a few seconds and then the screen flashes quickly, and the message is displayed again. This repeats over and over. Please I would appreciate any advise on how I could correct this issue. Again thank you.

Respectfully Yours
Stephen

PS: Please bare in mind my knowledge in game repair is a beginner’s beginner! Hahaha

Response from Jonathan: Stephen,

Thank you for your question. It sounds like you are having a resetting problem. Most resetting problems are caused by the power supply not being adjusted correctly. The adjustment could have been altered while the game was being moved. With that said, let’s start off by checking the power supply. Check out our post on Checking And Replacing A Power Supply for more information. If your game has an older, classic power supply, then you might need to reference our post on Checking A Classic Power Supply instead.

You might also double check the other connectors and wiring to make sure nothing else came loose or is not making a good connection to the board. Just because you don’t see something disconnected does not mean that it’s making a good connection. Try reseating the connector on your harness to see if that makes a difference.

If you check the power supply/wiring and everything looks good then you might want to give you board a close inspection to see if anything came loose in the move. Check out our post on Inspecting An Arcade Board for more information.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
