Question from Ryan: I am fairly new to the hobby of collecting and repairing arcade games and have had some success so far. My current project involves the monitor on my mortal combat 2 game. I bought it cheap in non working condition but I’m having issues trouble shooting the monitor. It plays blind fine and if I play with the adjustment knobs enough I can almost get a picture. enough that i can see moving objects but certainly not enough to play the game. The problem seems to be related to the horizontal freq. adjustment and the flyback. When I turn up the horiz. freq. knob I get a clicking from the flyback or at least the area of the flyback that increases in volume and frequency as I turn the knob to the right. The chassis is hantarex if that helps. further adjustment of the other knobs results in a blank screen. I can only get the very poor picture back by seemingly random “screwing around” with the knobs and reseting the game. Any ideas and is this something I can fix myself or should I start shopping for a new monitor?
