Cruis’n World Playing Blind
Question from Trey: Hey guys, I have watched several of your videos as well as read through your website. I was hoping that maybe you had some advice for me and my problem. I purchased a Cruis’n World in working condition. When I got it to the house the screen was dark and appeared to be missing the red. I assumed it was a video wire that had come loose in the move and let the kids go ahead and play the game that night. Of course, I forgot about it and it was on all night. When morning came the game was playing blind. I have done some troubleshooting as I am knowledgably about electricity and in my business work with control voltages and logic. I do not understand circuit boards! I have not been able to locate a manual I could read on the web for the game or for the chassis board on the monitor. All fuses are good. I did find a burnt resistor (r126) and replaced with what I hope was the right one (found r126 in a manual schematic and a part number). Resistor was burnt so I couldn’t tell what rings were on it. Replaced with a 3300 ohm 5%. Voltage to the board is a little funny as it is 120 volt AC between the neutral and line but only 58-60 volts AC to ground. I am not sure if this is the issue or not. There is no neck glow. Nothing displayed on the monitor. I do not have any voltages from the JAMMA to any of the video inputs (not sure if I should or not). I am not sure if I should check the HOT or the flyback since I do not have any blown fuses. All the caps look good that I can tell and I have not found any other components that look bad. Before I get any further into this, I was wondering if I should be looking at the PCB board not the monitor board. Also, I have made sure that the neck board is installed tightly in to the tube. Any help is greatly appreciated as my wife is beating me up on buying a game that “does not work”. Regards, Trey
