Dig Dug, how to kill the monsters?

Question from James: Hey Guys, I recently bought an upright Atari Dig Dug arcade machine from craigslist. I played it for about half an hour before I made the purchase. Transported it home plugged it in and played for about 35 minutes. Came back later to find garbage on the screen. Player lights lit up and a humming feedback sound from the speaker. I looked online and read about big blue. I replaced big blue and all of the fuses along with the power cord because it was missing the ground. Powered back up and got garbage on the screen, test mode still does nothing. I now keep blowing fuses at F3. (20AMP 32 V slow blow fuse) I think the next step is to replace the bridge rectifier. Do you have video for this? Also, if I get stuck and this doesn’t fix my problems do you have someone who can help me troubleshoot my next steps? Thanks! James

Response from Jonathan: James,

Unfortunately we do not have a video on replacing a bridge rectifier but the good news is that it’s not that hard as it’s just like replacing any other electronic part. Of course, you might want to test it to make sure it’s bad. Here’s a video that should help you with that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqkT6hF0O3E. If you’ve replaced big blue, the fuses and the bridge rectifier and you’re still blowing a fuse then you might have some wiring issues somewhere. Wiring issues can sometimes be hard to track down so let’s hope that the bridge rectifier is the issue for simplicity’s sake. Please feel free to email us back if you need additional help.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
