Donkey kong question
Question from Louis: Hi all! Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I recently bought a Donkey Kong cabinet to enjoy. When I first started playing it, I noticed that the left side of the screen wasn’t showing dark blue too well. Jump man would move over that way and his picture missed a little of his shoulder. I noticed that it was just this side of the screen. So I got my friend who fixes cabinets to come and recap it and it still didn’t fix it. Any idea on what this maybe? I also noticed that if the machine is hit by any strong vibration the picture goes in and out and sometimes just stays out. Any advice on what I should do would be amazing! It almost sounds like you’re having some sort of connection issue on either your monitor input wires or on the neck board. We recommend checking all the monitor input wires that run from the board to the monitor to make sure they are making a good connection. You might also want to touch up the solder on the input pins on your monitor chassis as they can come loose over time due to the connector being pulled off of and pushed on to them. On the neck board, look for any cold or cracked solder joints and touch them up to ensure the connection is being made. Remove the next board from the neck of the monitor and push it back on to make sure all the neck pins are entering the socket properly.
Now, it could be some sort of convergence issue that’s causing the blue to “hide” behind the other colors as jump man moves to the left. Check out our post on Adjusting The Convergence Rings and Monitor Convergence Tips for more information on what you can do to correct this issue.
