Donkey Kong Video Problem.
Question: My Donkey Kong machine has developed a display problem. I’ve attached a couple snapshot showing what it looks like. I suspect it’s some kind of horizontal synchronization problem and I’m hoping that it’s a simple adjustment to fix.
Normally the game is on all of the time, but before this it was turned off for about a week and a half.
This has happened before. Before today, it would always go away if I turned the game off, waited a few seconds and then turned it back on. Today it wouldn’t go away no matter how many times I turned it off and back on.

Response from Jonathan: We would start off this repair by checking the wires and connector that come from the board harness to the monitor chassis. Make sure your sync wires are making a good connection to the board. Remember that the pins on the chassis where the monitor plugs in tend to loosen up over time. You might even touch up the solder on these pin just to make sure a good connection is being made.
If all of this looks good then it’s probably time to install a cap kit. Seems like most image stabilization problems on Sanyo monitor have to do with bad caps. Check out our post on Installing A Cap Kit for more information.
It could also be a problem with your B+ voltage on your chassis but typically the monitor will go black instead of showing an out-of-sync screen. You might check it anyway just to make sure you’re getting around 110 VAC from it.
Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
