dragons lair problem, any help would be appreciated

I have recently bought a Dragon’s Lair arcade and have two problems. First, the daughter card when moved will make the picture go nuts, you have to play with it until you get it into the right position and the picture will then be fine??Any thoughts on this and second, when playing the game and you make a mistake it brings up the dead dirk scene but then it goes to the next part of the game. I thought that if you die it would start you from where you died and not advance you until you successfully completed the stage?? Do you have any ideas as to what might be wrong on either issue or am I just nuts..

Sounds like you are having some connection problems with your daughter card. We would recommend touching up the solder on the connector pins of the board. It could be that there are some cold solder joints causing these issues. You might also want to check the connectors going to the board as well to make sure there is no loose wiring.
As far as I know, the game sequence you are experiencing is the normal game sequence. There are some hacked versions of Dragon’s Lair that will restart you in the same place when you die but I haven’t seen these outside of emulators such as Daphne. Of course, I am not the authority on Dragon’s Lair and would definitely recommend checking out the Dragon’s Lair Project site at http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/. They have some great information about Dragon’s Lair as well as other laserdisc arcade games.
